Rosie works as a Writer and Editor, splitting her time between general NEPCon communications and project work.
Rosie writes about NEPCon’s work, from news about what’s going on with forest certification, to fact sheets for our clients that explain the services we provide, to position papers that aim to improve the schemes we work with.
Before joining NEPCon, Rosie worked as a research scientist and as a campaigner. She has a first class honours degree in natural sciences from the University of Cambridge and a PhD from the University of Leeds. She spent 16 years working as campaigner at Global Witness where her work focused on ending illegal and unsustainable logging in Cambodia, ensuring more transparency of oil revenues in Sudan, and making it harder for dictators to use the western financial system to launder stolen money.
Rosie joined NEPCon in 2016. She has passed the FSC Expert courses in forest management and chain of custody and the LegalSource lead auditor course.
The world’s forests are disappearing at an alarming rate. Species are going extinct at the fastest rate since the dinosaurs died out. People who live in forests are getting thrown off their land. And the destruction of forests is fuelling climate change. I believe we can help change that by working with companies to help them meet minimum timber legality requirements and to help them go further and ensure that their products are sustainable.
